Wallpaper Calculator
Work out how many rolls of wallpaper a room needs — wall area in, rolls out, rounded up.
Rolls needed
How it works
Rolls = wall area ÷ coverage per roll, rounded up Example: 30 m² ÷ 5 m² per roll = 6 rolls
Worked example: a room with 30 m² of wall and rolls covering 5 m² each needs ceil(30 ÷ 5) = 6 rolls. For 32 m² the same rolls give ceil(32 ÷ 5) = 7 rolls, because a part roll cannot be bought.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure the wall area?
Multiply the length of each wall by its height and add the results, then subtract the area of doors and windows. That total is the figure to enter.
What about pattern repeat?
A large pattern repeat wastes paper at every join, because each strip must start at the same point in the pattern. If the repeat is large, buy one extra roll beyond the calculated number.
Can I enter square feet instead?
Convert first: square metres = square feet ÷ 10.764. A 300 sq ft wall area is about 27.9 m².
Should I buy exactly the calculated number?
Buy the calculated number plus one spare roll if you can. A torn strip or a future repair is much easier with a roll from the same batch.
