Maturity value

How it works

FV = P × (((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i) × (1 + i)
where i = annual return ÷ 1200 and n = months invested

Worked example: invest ₹5,000 a month at 12% a year for 10 years. You invest ₹6,00,000 in total, and the maturity value is ₹11,61,695 — so growth adds ₹5,61,695.

Frequently asked questions

Is the return guaranteed?

No. The return you enter is an assumption, and real market returns vary year to year. Treat the result as an illustration, not a promise.

Why is the maturity value higher than the invested amount?

Because each monthly investment earns returns, and those returns then earn returns of their own. That compounding is what the formula captures.

What does “expected return” mean here?

It is the average yearly growth rate you assume for the investment. Trying a lower rate shows a more cautious outcome.

Does this include tax or fees?

No. Tax, fund charges and inflation are not included, so the real take-home value will differ.
