CGPA

—

out of 10

Leave a subject row blank and it is ignored. The percentage uses the 9.5 factor on the 10-point scale; your university’s factor may differ.

How it works

CGPA = (grade points × credits, summed over subjects) ÷ total credits
Percentage equivalent = CGPA × 9.5

Worked example: grades 9, 8 and 10 with credits 4, 3 and 3 give (9 × 4 + 8 × 3 + 10 × 3) ÷ 10 = 90 ÷ 10 = 9.0. The percentage equivalent is 9.0 × 9.5 = 85.5%.

Frequently asked questions

Why do credits matter?

A subject worth more credits counts more. A 10 in a 4-credit subject pulls your CGPA up more than a 10 in a 1-credit subject, because the grade is weighted by its credits.

What happens to a blank subject row?

It is ignored completely — it adds nothing to the total and nothing to the credits. Fill it in and it joins the calculation at once.

Is the percentage equivalent official?

No. It is CGPA × 9.5, a common conversion on the 10-point scale. Your university may use a different factor, so treat it as a guide.
