Road Trip Cost Calculator
A road trip’s full cost — fuel plus tolls, split across passengers.
Total trip cost
How it works
Fuel needed = distance ÷ mileage Fuel cost = fuel needed × fuel price Total = fuel cost + tolls Cost per person = total ÷ passengers
Worked example: 400 km at 15 km/l needs 400 ÷ 15 = 26.67 litres, costing 26.67 × ₹100 = ₹2,667 of fuel. With ₹500 of tolls the total is ₹3,167, or ₹3,167 ÷ 4 = ₹792 per person for four passengers.
Frequently asked questions
Should I enter the one-way or return distance?
Enter the full distance you will actually drive. For a return trip, double the one-way distance before calculating, or the fuel cost will come out at half the real figure.
Does this include food, stays or parking?
No — only fuel and tolls, the two costs that scale with the route. Add food and stays separately if you want a full trip budget.
My mileage figure is in litres per 100 km. What do I enter?
Convert it first: km/l = 100 ÷ (litres per 100 km). A car using 6 litres per 100 km does 100 ÷ 6 = 16.67 km/l.
