Expense breakdown

| Total expenses |
This is a planning estimate, not financial advice.
How it works
Total expenses = housing + food + transport + other Savings = income − total expenses Savings rate = savings ÷ income × 100
Worked example: income ₹80,000, with housing ₹25,000, food ₹12,000, transport ₹8,000 and other expenses ₹10,000, gives total expenses of ₹55,000. Savings are ₹80,000 − ₹55,000 = ₹25,000, a savings rate of 31.25%.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as an expense here?
Anything that leaves your account in a typical month: rent, groceries, travel, subscriptions and everything else. Put one-off yearly costs in as their monthly share so the picture stays honest.
What if my expenses are higher than my income?
Your savings come out negative and the savings rate goes below zero. That is the calculator telling you spending needs to fall or income needs to rise before any saving is possible.
Is a 31% savings rate good?
There is no universal target, but saving roughly a fifth to a third of your income is a common goal. What matters most is that the rate stays positive month after month.
