Unit Price Calculator
Which of three products is really cheapest, once pack size is taken into account.
Quantities below are in the unit chosen here.
Cheapest product
How the saving is worked out
How it works
Unit price = price ÷ quantity Cheapest = the lowest unit price Saving vs dearest = dearest unit price − cheapest unit price
Worked example, per gram: A ₹100 ÷ 500g = ₹0.20/g, B ₹180 ÷ 1,000g = ₹0.18/g, C ₹60 ÷ 250g = ₹0.24/g. Cheapest is B, and the saving against the dearest (C) is ₹0.06/g — ₹60 per kg. If A drops to ₹90, A is ₹0.18/g, tied with B, so both are named cheapest.
Frequently asked questions
What if two products tie for cheapest?
Both are named as cheapest. The rule on this page is: every product sharing the lowest unit price is listed, in the order A, B, C.
Do the quantities have to use the same unit?
Yes. Pick one unit above and enter all three quantities in it, so the unit prices compare like with like.
Why is the bigger pack not always cheapest?
Because price does not always grow with pack size. Only the price divided by the quantity tells you what each gram, litre or item really costs.
