Fuel Cost Calculator
Trip fuel cost from distance, mileage and fuel price.
Total fuel cost
How it works
Fuel needed = distance ÷ mileage Total cost = fuel needed × fuel price
Worked example: 300 km at 15 km/l needs 300 ÷ 15 = 20 litres. At ₹100 a litre the trip costs 20 × ₹100 = ₹2,000, which is ₹667 per 100 km.
Frequently asked questions
My car quotes mileage in litres per 100 km. What do I enter?
Convert it first: km/l = 100 ÷ (litres per 100 km). A car using 6 litres per 100 km does 100 ÷ 6 = 16.67 km/l.
Does this cover a return trip?
Only if you enter the full distance. For a return journey, double the one-way distance before calculating.
Why does my real cost differ from the estimate?
Mileage varies with traffic, load, air conditioning and driving style. Treat the maker’s figure as a best case and add a small margin for city driving.
